The Sunny MiZ 1: Upgrading Library Membership

Ok, nothing much happening in the morning, just only got my hair cut then.

In the afternoon, I went to the esplanade library to browse through some of my music scores for the exams. Before I could borrow those books, I need my membership to be upgraded, so I approached the person at the service counter. The person told me that I need to bring my IC in order to upgrade my membership, in which I had left it at home. So, I had to go home just to bring my IC along and come back to the library again. When I was upgrading my membership later on, the person (another one) didn't ask for my IC... just my membership card and my Cashcard. Well..., maybe I should have waited a little longer there. The trip from City Hall station to Bishan station and vice versa (plus some walking trip as well) isn't that short... Anyway, I managed to borrow 4 music books from the library after upgrading my membership.

Recently my old computer (the Pentium II computer) had some problems. It could not start up Windows. The Boot Disk that we have does not help here. Heard from my father that it could have been infected by a virus (we still don't know whether if this is the case). Maybe it's time to change the old computer to a better one (and should be better than the Pentium 4 acer computer we are always using now). Not much point fixing that computer since it can't really run many of the newer games (The Sims 2 is one of them).

MiZiSat 1: Money into the Bank Accounts

Ok, did quite a lot of things today. Counted my Hong Bao money after remembering doing so. The money then was evenly shared to be deposited into my 3 bank accounts. After that, I deposited the money for 2 of my accounts. (I'll ask my mother to deposit the other one for me.) Then, I have to change my account book (POSB) because it'sgoing to be full. Have to go to the branch in Funan Centre because the one at Bishan is way too crowded. Somemore, the Funan branch opens until evening, unlike the Bishan branch which only opens up to 1pm on Saturday.

Before going to Funan, I decided to buy movie ticket to watch movie in late afternoon at Junction 8. This decision was kind of sudden by the way. (It all depends on my mood.)

Well, to "test their system" I decided to apply for Grade 4 Harpsichord exams with an approval from my father. Hmm... I wonder what would happen if there isn't any Harpsichord available for examination use. Anyway, I had to register online since the ABRSM Exams office only opens from Monday to Friday. This also means that I have to use my UOB debit card to pay for the exam fee (hopefully it's safe...). It cost S$167 by the way (earn UNI$33 from that). Hmm... the exam fees seems to increase every year. Last time, the Grade 4 exams did not cost as much as it is now...

Still wondering if there are really harpsichords out there in Singapore for exams. If there isn't, I will have to ask for a refund (or else my money is wasted...).

Another thing, I just got my Music Theory exam venue today from mail. It said that I will be taking my exams at Overseas Union House at Collyer Quay. That's a bit far from my home, but it doesn't matters anyway. Hmm... still not really prepared for my exams (don't know can pass or not)... :P (By the way, Pass = 66%)

MiZ in Weekdays 1: IPPT Test

Ok, as like Bebo journal, I'm coming up with standard titles for my blog as well so that I do not have to kill my brain cells to come up with titles all the time. They are as follows:

MiZ in Weekdays - Journals for Monday to Friday, occasionally includes some Saturdays as well.

MiZiSat - Journal written just for Saturday itself (if I did not post that on MiZ in Weekdays).

The Sunny MiZ - Journals written for Sunday.

Holi-Miz - Journals written specially for holidays/offs/leaves

21 Feb 2005 to 23 Feb 2005
Hmm... nothing special from Monday to Wednesday in camp.

24 Feb 2005
We were asked to clean some of the rifles that has to be return to other unit. At night, we celebrated one of our campmates birthday. Well, during that time, the people "with additional/special things on the green clothings compared to us" also asked those other people whom birthday falls on January and February as well to do some silly stuff. Hmm... I feel that those "two people" (if you are in there, you should know who I'm refering to) were really quite "ridicules, unthoughtful and unconsiderate" to our campmates that time. We had pizzas to celebrate his birthday. Didn't eat too much because of IPPT the next day. How thoughtful of them by buying 6 large pizzas and 2 big bottles of soft drinks for us.

25 Feb 2005
We had our IPPT test. Well, I just tried my very best to pass it and clear it. Didn't know that running for 2.4 km test is so much more tiring than running the 5 km run. In the afternoon, we were asked to go for gym training. Feel kind of tired of doing gym after that IPPT test. Anyway, that "someone" said that this is to improve our IPPT results by training more. See, how thoughtful can they be after we exhausted our energy for our more important IPPT?

MiZ Speaks
Well, the music practical exams for ABRSM has opened. I'm still considering whether I should take Grade 4 Harpsichord exams in September (if they have it in Singapore that is). I think there isn't any harpsichord in Singapore other than the one found in concert halls (which can't really be used by the public). I have to make this decision soon as they are closing the applications by 4 March.

Heard from Andrew that he wanted to sign up for DipABRSM Piano (Performance) exams. I wonder if he is really serious about this (This is a lot more than just the graded exams). Well, I have to say that the passing rate in UK for Diplomas (ABRSM one) is only about 50%, and to pass Diploma, the candidate needs to obtain at least 40% (which is the passing marks) of the maximum possible marks in ALL sections and sub-sections (something like your IPPT). If DipABRSM is considered as a graded exams, it is something like Grade 12 to 14.

A Sleepy Day...

Well, I just don't know why I'm feeling very tired today. The only thing I've been doing is sleeping, as for what I know.

After I woke up at 8 in the morning, I switched on my computer and my MSN to check my mails and went back to sleep again. Woke at at about 11.30 am to prepare for lunch.

During afternoon, my friend Kavan ask me out for a game of table-tennis, but I'm still feeling tired that time. I told him that I need more rest. After that, I went sleep again and woke up at 7.30pm for dinner.I think it must be the hot and dry weather that makes me so sleepy. Just hope that things will be different for the upcoming week.

Violin Courses and more CNY Celebrations

Went to Plaza Singapura to catch a movie myself again. Bought that popcorn combo that gave the Qoo Calendar Cards 2005 as well. (The popcorn combo is also my lunch by the way.)

After that, I signed up for violin courses there. It a group lesson held on Sunday, 1pm to 2pm, tentatively starting from 06/03/2005 if they have enough students. So far nobody has sign up for the course yet, and I'm the only one doing so that time, so I have to cross my fingers...

After that, my family visit a relative house to had our dinner there. Well, there are a lot of homemade pastas, pizzas and some Italian food served there by my aunt. (Well, she was married to an Italian.) We also had some Häagen-Dazs Ice-cream cake there to celebrate my cousin's birthday. Well, something embarressed happened to me also while having our dinner there, some one pointed out that I wore the shirt inside-out, which I didn't realised it. Oops!!! Well, anyway, it did not make much different whether I'm wearing it in the correct way, since the pattern is somewhat the same and it is somewhat a bit unnoticeable.

Back in Camp...

14 Feb 2005 to 18 Feb 2005
Back in camp. Nothing much, nothing special. The only thing I did something more important is my ops room duty. Well, as usual, I just read some books and do some Music Theory Grade 6 while manning the signal sets. Also just made some comments about that "train" during my ops room duty (if you know what I mean about that...).

CNY Day 4 and 5

12 Feb 2005 to 13 Feb 2005
Nothing much happening between those 2 days. After all those visiting, I need to rest at home for some time (well, I can get tired quite easily).

CNY Day 3

Met my friends at Tanah Merah MRT station to go to PSQ's house. PSQ then showed me his $8000+ violin (which is more expensive than my piano, even though my piano contains more strings, woods and also more additional stuffs as well). It sounds really good when I tried them. We had lunch there as well.

After that, we visited HJ's house. They also offered meals for us as well. Too bad we were just too full to eat. Then, we rushed to the airport to see JL off (well, we only take a very short look at him before he went off...).

After sending JL off, we caught a movie (Constantine) in Lot 1 at Choa Chu Kang. After that, we visited WQ's house and had a very quick dinner.

CNY Day 2

We visited most of our relatives house that day. I played the piano at one of my relatives house almost throughout that visit as they had a better piano than ours. (Ok, to my parents, when can we get a newer and better piano? I've been waiting for years, you know...) In another visit, they happened to have other relatives visiting their house also. So, more red packet for me.

CNY Day 1

First thing of the day, I visited the temple with my parents and my sister as usual. After we came backhome, we waited for our guests to come. When my cousin came, she asked me to play dai-dee and bridge with her. Too bad I'm quite bad at those games, and I'm also tired at that time because I slept late the day before. Later on, we visited one of our relatives house and had our dinner.

Chinese New Year Eve

Ok, the very first posting on my blog, starting from Chinese New Year Eve (I do not have entries before that date). Well, I have my reunion dinner with my family as usual.
