The Sunny MiZ 18: Just bought something...

26 Jun 2005
While I was on the signal duty desk early in the morning listening to music, I realised that WQ did not book out last night after the NDP rehearsal after I saw him booking out this morning. Didn't really asked why though...

After handing over my duty to another person, I just quickly rushed back to the bunk and prepare to book out of camp. After I reached back home and put my things down, I had my second breakfast for that day with my father and my grandmother.

After we went back home, I quickly bathe and went out to Plaza Singapura with my father. Well, as I am going to have quite a lot of ops room duty signal coming up, I requested to my father to get something for me to kill time while I'm inside the ops room. Shared the cost with my father. Well, what is it? You just have to guess. I'll put up something on this blog, ok?

After that, I had my violin lesson there. Ok, we learned two more pieces from the Suzuki Violin School book. Hmm... think that we were learning quite fast, hopefully we could skip a grade for next year violin examination.

After my violin lesson, I had my haircut at EC House over there before I had my lunch. After that, I went back home to prepare my things

MiZ Speaks
Didn't really walk around city area as there are just too much things to do outside. Hmm... haven't really gone out shopping (window shopping I mean) for the past few weeks. Wonder when I could really go out to walk all around soon...

Just got another letter from Singapore Symphonia Orchestra (SSO). Well, it was a letter from ABRSM representative, telling me to collect my certificate for my Grade 6 Theory Exam between 26 Jun 2005 to 12 July 2005. Hmm... don't know if I have the time to do so... Well, the office only opened from Monday to Friday, so I might have to send one of the people to collect for me on my behalf if I'm not free to do so...

MiZiSat 18: NDP Combined Rehearsal 1

25 Jun 2005
Just perform my ops room duty signal on that day. Well, basically I just watched cartoons in the morning, listening to music and playing my Gameboy Advance in the afternoon and start to lie on bed and rest in the evening. Just nothing much.

Well, about the meals, I have to say that the lunch was about terrible, having yellow rice and all the spicy curried food. Dinner was surprisingly good. We had Western for dinner, and the cooking was still up to that standard as well.

Ok, just nothing much on that day. Basically did the same thing as my past ops room duty signal.

MiZ in Weekdays 18: Just as usual...

21 Jun 2005
Had ACCT in the morning. As it rained just now, we had our ACCT in hall after 'A' company finished theirs at around 8.45am.

After that, we just rest in bunk until lunch time. After lunch, we just continue with our RPS routine. Well, at least I still practise my viola in late morning and afternoon, that I had not been touching for quite some time.

22 Jun 2005
Again we had our ACCT in the morning. Even though the ground is still quite wet and muddy due to the rain that occured the day before, we still had our ACCT at the SOC ground. Luckily it was only a short one, so we didn't have to get our uniforms extremely dirty...

After that, we again had our RPS routine as well. Hmm... I didn't really performed my RPS routine on that day. CC asked me to go to 3 Division at Jurong Camp to help out with the PA system for the short NDP preview rehearsal. Basically nothing much, except to play only one track for the rehearsals.

After we came back from Jurong Camp, I rushed to the cookhouse to have my dinner before it closes. Then, I went back to bunk to rest.

23 Jun 2005
We had our ACCT again in the morning. This time, the lesson was even shorter as they wanted to end the lesson very early.

After ACCT, we again performed our RPS routine. Well, just don't know why I felt so tired after I had my ACCT. I just slept through late morning and afternoon. At least I still got up for lunch and dinner. Ok, now the COS started to mark attendance in the cookhouse. Looked like some people had to get off from the bed to had their meals.

24 Jun 2005
Basically did nothing much on that day. Well, it was raining very heavily in the morning, so the only thing we could do was to perform the RPS routine, except that we concentrated on the R module more. Well, I still felt quite tired on that day as well, so I just slept the whole morning and the whole afternoon, still got up to have my meals.

Well, it was supposed to be a book-out day, but as I had to do ops room duty signal on that day, I just only had my nights off. Well, at least better than nothing. I decided to go to Jurong Point to had my dinner there and walk around. Thought of borrowing some books from the library, but I could not find the type of book that I wanted, so I just left the library without borrowing anything. Also helped WQ to buy dinner back for him. I supposed the cookhouse dinner must be awful...

Holi-MiZ 10: A break for a hectic week...

20 Jun 2005
Basically did nothing much on that day, just mostly rest at home in the morning.

Well, maybe not really nothing much. Later in the morning, I went out to Bras Basah Complex to look out for something that I want. Well, they mostly sell those books not really seen at normal bookstores. Anyway, I decided to just look around on the things they sell there, even though I could not really find the thing that I wanted. After that, I went to Plaza Singapura to eat, and then went back home to rest.

Spent the rest of the afternoon resting, playing with computer and preparing to book in also. Just nothing much, nothing special on that day.

The Sunny MiZ 17: Another hectic day...

19 Jun 2005
After I booked out from camp, I went home, taking my father's car back. Well, thought that I could rest for some time before going for my Violin lesson, but my father said that we would be going to the temple at Yishun to pray first before going for our breakfast. Well, I had to go out to pray and had a second breakfast. Never mind about having another breakfast, since the breakfast I had in camp was not that good anyway.

After we came back home, I just rested for a while before going out for Violin lesson. Well, at least my father was fetching me to Plaza Singapura, so I didn't have to go out so early. Well, since I had no time for lunch, and I had only just eaten my breakfast, I just went straight for the lesson.

Well, it had been 4 weeks since I had my last violin lesson (the first week was being public holiday, and subsequent 3 weeks for the NDP CCR). Hmm... the teacher could guess that I was somewhat involved in NDP during the last 3 Sundays, which I was kind of surprise from that. Well, as I had not attend the lessons for 3 weeks, I had forgotten a bit how to hold the bow... Well, at least I still managed to catch up fast enough with the rest of the class. That's what good about it if you have some musical background while learning the violin.

After the lesson ended, I went to Synwin Enterprises at Tanjong Katong Complex to buy a Viola music book there. After that, I went straight home. Thought that I could rest after that, but my cousins came after a while I reached home, so I had to entertain them.

Later in the evening, my family and my relatives went to United Square to had our dinner. Well, it's father's day, but it seemed that our fathers may had to foot the bill, since they were earning much more than the rest. Ok, we decided to had our dinner at Soup Restaurant, but as there were too many people, we had to wait for one hour before we could get the space there. Well, the food were nice, nicer that what I initially thought. Maybe you could give that restaurant a try if you have the money...

After that, we went back home, and after writing this blog, I'm going to lie on the bed and sleep straight away.

MiZ Speaks
Ok, think I will write something here before I go back to sleep. Well, I received my Grade 6 Theory of Music results on Tuesday. Ok, I got 84/100, which is a Merit. think that's quite good enough, even thought I didn't get a distinction, which means that I will miss out the Hedy King award, heard from my cousins that it is about £70 (which is about S$200), but never mind, at least I didn't waste my $108 for the exam. Here is my exam results, if you want to have a look.

Grade 6 Theory of Music Exam results. (Click to enlarge)

Well, my cousin Winnie got 76/100 for her Grade 6 Theory of Music exam (taken in Oct 2004), which means I do better than her (HAHAHA... :P).

Ok, thought of taking up flute as my next instrument, but my cousin Winnie told me not to do so, as flute is easy to pickup. She said I should pickup an instrument that is difficult to master and also very few people that know how to play it as well. She asked me to do Oboe instead... Well, how do you know? We actually shared a similar kind of thinking. What I can say is that I really wanted to do Oboe, that is if I had that money. Oboe is one instrument that is very difficult to master, and very expensive to learn as well. The instrument itself is also very expensive as well, and there are very few Oboe teachers around here as well... She then asked me to do the Clarinet instead, but I don't really like transposing instruments, as I will get confused with the written notes and the sounding pitch. The thing is that I have perfect pitch, so it can be very difficult for me to learn a transposing instrument. Think I will stick to flute first instead...

MiZiSat 17: NDP CCR 5

18 Jun 2005
Took over ops room duty from Jonathan early in the morning. Well, basically there was nothing much to do as usual, just that I need to fax the redcon report to GSOC and the 2 NTM unit (5 SIR), and also conduct radio check as well. Spent most of the time watching cartoons in the morning, basically watching Mirmo, Yu-gi-oh, Doraemon, Pokémon and Sonic. Spent most of the time in the afternoon listening to music... Spent most of the evening playing Gameboy Advance in the evening...

Well, some people asked me to ask the next day duty signaller to take over me for ops room later at night so that I could go home. Well, the thing is the next duty signaller was not involved in NDP for that day, so I didn't really see the point in doing so. Well, it's ok anyway, since it's only just a small difference at the place I would be sleeping. Just need to send additional reports and radio checks, that's all I need to do.

MiZ in Weekdays 17: A long week...

13 Jun 2005
Some of the people took off on that day. Basically there wasn't anything much to do, so some of us spent most of the time inside the bunk resting or playing.

In the afternoon, some people asked BSO whether we could go for nights off. The BSO seemed to hesitate at first, but decided to let us go eventually. Well, I decided to go out with SJ, WH, SQ and WQ to buy father's day presents. Well, didn't really to buy anything though... :P.

14 Jun 2005
We had our ACCT in the morning. After that, there wan't anything much to do as well. Just spent most of the time resting, playing, and maybe perhaps studying.

15 Jun 2005
There was nothing much for us to do in the morning. Just that usual resting, playing and studying routine, think I will call it the RPS routine for short.

Later in the afternoon, we had our 3km company run. The whether was kind of cooling, but it got a bit hotter as we proceed on to our run. After our run, we rested for a while before going for our nights off.

KQ asked me if I want to watch Batman Begins with WQ and him. Well, I agreed with that. Later, JR, WH and WB decided to join us for the movie as they decided not to play Defence of the Ancients (DotA). After we bought the tickets, I went to draw out some money and then bought a Grade 7 music theory workbook from Yamaha Music School (which is just above the Library). We then proceed on to our movies. The show was quite interesting and nice, you could watch it when you are free.

16 Jun 2005
We had our ACCT in the morning. Well, the ground was somewhat wet and muddy, so we had our uniforms very muddy and dirty. After that, we had nothing much to do, just that usual RPS routine. Well, our "train" is again playing pranks with us. Hmm... if this continue, I think that "train" may end up in the "wrong tracks".

17 Jun 2005
We had our ACCT in the morning. Had to wear that muddy and dirty uniform for ACCT, but it's ok anyway, since we were always going to get dirty after ACCT. AFter ACCT, we again had nothing much to do, so we performed that RPS routine again.

Later in the evening, we had nights off. I didn't go out as I was feeling somewhat tired then. Well, as SJ and I didn't want to eat cookhouse food, and all the canteens were closed, we decided to cook instant noodles for our dinner. After that, HH, SJ and I went to the office to play counterstrike. Stayed there until 11+pm as we wanted to complete all the missions. After that, we went back to bunk and I had a group discussions with some people over there.

The Sunny MiZ 16: NDP CCR 4

12 Jun 2005
Well, took over ops room duty from Lionel the day before. Mostly did nothing much there, except to send fax to GSOC and 2 NTM unit (which is 5 SIR) and conduct radio check in the morning. Spent my whole morning watching cartoon, listening to music the whole afternoon and playing my Gameboy the whole evening. Lionel decided to take over me at night to make up the time for the duty. Well, he actually didn't want to wake up so early the next morning, so that's why he decided to take over me then.

MiZiSat 16: Mostly resting at home...

11 Jun 2005
Skipped breakfast in the morning as I felt quite full. Hmm... maybe I could have eaten too much popcorn while watching the movie "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" the previous day. My mother had already bought me Nasi Lemak, but too bad it had to be thrown away as I was just really too full to eat that. Well, you can't keep Nasi Lemak for too long, as it will spoil within a few hours. As I looked myself onto the mirror, I realised that I had a very bad hair day. Well, that could mean 1 thing... it's time for me to cut my hair. As I was just too lazy to leave the house in the morning, and there were also Doraemon and Pokémon on air as well, I decided to have my haircut later at noon.

Before noon, I went out to Plaza Singapura to have some look at the musical instruments at Yamaha Music School. Really felt like trying the flute out, but I don't know if they would mind that (well, there is a 2nd hand flute on sale there, maybe I could try out that one first). As I was looking through the showcase, I realised that they also had a more professional Yamaha Acoustic Violin on sale as well. Hmm, the price? Well... it's really expensive, that's what I could say. Well, it cost as much as $13,500 for just a violin alone, which is somewhat the same as the price of a very good upright piano without the disklavier and the silent piano device (and nope, I'm not joking about that). Ok, if you want to know, the most expensive Yamaha Acoustic Piano itself that I come across is priced about $13,550. So, what do you think about that violin? More expensive than the one PSQ had.

Ok, after looking at those instruments, I went to EC House at the basement of Plaza Singapura to have my hair cut. Well, it's just that same short hairstyle as usual. After that, I went back home striaght and continue playing my Gameboy Advance games on my Gameboy Player.

MiZ Speaks
Hmm... come to think of it, I did say that when I confirmed my Pokémon team on Pokémon Emerald, I would tell you again. Now that I had just beaten the Elite 4 and the Champion, I think I would want to share if you about my team if you really one to know. My team consists of Swampert, Swellow, Mightyena, Linoone, Breloom and Alakazam. Not really a strong team, but at least it is still quite sufficient to defeat the Elite 4.

Ok, I decided to share 2 pieces of music to you, both are from the current ABRSM Exam Syllabus. The first one is Sonata in D, composed by Domenico Scarlatti (1685 - 1757) played by Melvyn Tan, and the second one is the reduced version of the 3rd movt from Flute concerto in G, Presto, composed by Johann Joachim Quantz (1697 - 1773), preformed by Gareth Davies (flute) and accompanied by John Alley (piano). Both music are produced by ABRSM publishing.

Holi-MiZ 9: Getting Gameboy Player (GBP)

10 Jun 2005
Well, woke up quite early in the morning. Realised that my sister was feeling a bit sick that day, and she had to see the doctor herself... At least my grandmother was there to take care of her.

Later in the morning, I went out to Plaza Singapura to had my lunch there. Thought of eating at Burger King, but decided to go to Long John Silver (yup, again) to try out their new menu. Hmm... the quantity was a bit small though. After that, I went to Yamaha Music School to look around. Well, just noticed that they started selling Yamaha Acoustic Violin. Hmm... the beginner's violin was really expensive, costing at least $600 each (regardless of the size), which was about 4 times the price of my Synwin student violin. The more professional one cost about $3000 each, well about the price of my piano... Now you should roughly know how lousy my piano is. Also came across a 2nd hand Yamaha Flute YFL 211 SIL, costing about $580. Hmm... don't know whether I should get one of that, or a brand new flute instead.

After that, I went to Funan Digitalife Mall to buy a Gameboy Player (GBP) and a 4-player link cable for Gameboy Advance (GBA). Well, the GBP served something like a GBA, except that you attached that GBP under GameCube, and you need to put the GBP disc inside GameCube before you can play Gameboy games on the television.

After that, I went to Orchard Cineleisure to buy a movie ticket "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" showing at 4.40pm for myself. As there was still a lot of time before the movie started, I walked around Orchard area to do some window-shopping. Well, the movie was quite interesting, and I think you should try to catch it if you have time to spare for movies.

After the movie, I went back home to play with my Gameboy Player. Well, the graphics are still ok. Hmm... since I had the link cable, that means I could link-up my GBP with my GBA.

MiZ Speaks
After listening to the Flute Exam Pieces 2004-2007 CDs, I'm be inspired and motivated to take up Flute as my 4th instrument. Well, if you don't know, my main instrument is Piano, next being the Violin, followed by Viola, not counting Descant Recorder though (the type of Recorder we used to play when we were in Primary School). Hmm... don't you think flute sounds really sweet and nice? Thought of doing Oboe, but that instrument is very expensive, very difficult to master and it is also very difficult to find an Oboe teacher to guide you along as well, so I may drop off that idea.

MiZ in Weekdays 16: 3 days only...

07 Jun 2005
ACCT in the morning. Well, we learned how to "slam/throw" people (forgot what is it called already) onto the floor. Hmm... didn't get too rough with my partner, SJ, but sometimes he would complained about the "pain" he had when I practised ACCT with him. Maybe I should let HJ to take good care of him instead. After we finished our ACCT, we just rest in bunk.

In the afternoon, we had PC interview by BSO. Just talk about some silly stuffs there... but I didn't mind talking about that anyway. By right the BSO also wanted to conduct games for us, but due to some reasons, he decided to cancel it (lucky... :P).

08 Jun 2005
Nothing much in the morning. Since it was raining very heavily at that time, there wasn't any roll call. We just mostly rest in our bunk then.

In the afternoon, we had our CRMQ survey. Well, this time, I decided to be stricter in the survey, especially about the questions about our OC. Hmm... so far my impression about him is... well, you should know what I mean. No harm giving the lowest end score, right?

After the survey, we rested in our bunk for a while before going for the company run. How odd to have a run in the afternoon... luckily the weather was not as hot as it would normally. Well, the BSO asked some people including me to "compete" with another officer, so-called "Harry Potter" by some people, as he was training for triathlon. Hey... I haven't being running much, especially during the period when we had outfield. As expected, I came back with stomach cramps and heart pain because I was just trying to narrow the gap between him and me... Still can't beat him though, and in fact I still lost to another person as well... :(

Anyway, there was nights off as well, but I decided not to go, since HJ and SJ were not going, and I still had not recover from my stomach cramps as well, so need to rest more in bunk.

09 Jun 2005
In the morning, we had ACCT. Well, when we got there, we could not find B company people (we were supposed to be attached to B company for ACCT). The thing was that we saw SP company having ACCT at that time as well... not really sure if they swapped. Since we were there, we decided to join A company for ACCT. Well, they taught us something that we had learn the last lesson... kind of boring, especially when we were split into rows and take turns to attack and defend, and all those took almost the whole lesson (yup, we only learned one thing for that lesson)... Ok, after ACCT, we rested in our bunk before going for lunch.

In the afternoon, we were told to go to the signal stores to do some stuff. Well, they only need some people to be there, and I still didn't get why the "train" would always asked ALL the people to come down to help out all the time... Anyway Roger, HJ and I volunteered to go to AETC to get back the accumulators and mounting board left in the landrover while the vehicle was sent there to be maintained, with the "train". Well, while at AETC, I noticed that there was one builing which had exactly the same design as the 46 SAR HQ/SP company block. Well, I supposed most of the buildings were built at the same time... Anyway, we had to take turns to carry those things from AETC to our signal stores. Felt very tired after doing so. After that, we had our canteen break and went back to bunk to rest.

As we had our off the next day, we pack our bags and booked out from camp that evening. Hmm... most of the people were not going to Lot1 to eat. At first I thought of going to the City area to look for some things, but I happened to meet my dearest friend Kavan when the bus past by 4 SIR. Thought of having dinner with him, but he decided to go somewhere when I joined SJ, WQ and CC for dinner. Well, the 4 of us had dinner at Long John Silver. After that, we walked around the shopping centre and played some arcade games before going home.

Holi-MiZ 8: Warcraft and Flute Pieces

06 Jun 2005
Woke up quite late at about 8.30am as I felt too lazy to get up from the bed, even though I had woken up many times between 6am to 8am. I decided to buy the breakfast from McDonald's back home instead as I felt like eating such food. After breakfast, I use the computer to surf the internet before going out again.

Went out at about 10.45am. Firstly I went to Funan Digitalife Mall. I decided to buy original copy of "Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos" and "Warcraft III: Frozen Throne" as the one my friends had lended me did not work that well on my computer and laptop. Well, I managed to find "Warcraft III: Battle Chest" set, which contained both "Reign of Chaos" and "Frozen Throne". It cost $74.90, considering reasonably priced since it also contains "Reign of Chaos" and "Frozen Throne" strategy guides as well (which I don't think I will get to read it, anyway).

After that, I went to Tanjong Katong Complex to go to Synwin Enterprise to look out for some books, but when I reached there, I realised that they closed on Monday. Too bad for me... perhaps next time then... After that, I went to Yamaha Music School at Plaza Singapura to browse through some of the scores there. I ythen chanced upon a Flute Exam Pieces CDs 2004-2007 on the shelves there. Well, I wanted to get the Grade 8 one to listen to what the pieces are, even though I did not learn flute at all. Well, they had one copy there, selling at a price of $67. As they gave out another 5% discount for Yamaha members (both students and non-students who applied for membership card), I did not hesitate to get a copy of it. Well, it cost $60.30 after the 10% discount. After that, I then went back straight home.

After I reached home, I switched on all of my 2 computers and laptop, and start installing "Warcraft III" on the faster computer first, before I proceed on to the laptop. The slower computer was used to play my "Grade 8 Flute Exam Pieces 2004-2007" CDs. Well, I have to say that the pieces are really nice, especially those from List A.

While installing "Warcraft III", I asked WB a lot of questions about installation and some other stuffs about "Warcraft III". Hmm... wonder if I could have bothered WB a lot... think I had blasted a lot of questions to him on MSN... Well, I was still not really sure about the patch thing and also some other parties stuff as well...

Well, I managed to install "Warcraft III" successfully, including some other programmes related to "Warcraft III", "Defence of the Ancients (DotA)", Local Area Network (LAN) gaming and so on as well. I then had my early dinner after that as I had to leave home earlier to book in to camp as my father was not fetching me there as he had to go out of sea for work.

MiZ Speaks
Hmm... ok, I have installed "Warcraft III" onto my computer already, and put those "DotA" maps onto the map folder, but I don't think I will be playing that often. Don't forget that there are too much things for me to do when I book out of camp, like playing GameCube games, online message board, MSN chats, blogs, shopping, movies, piano practices, violin practices and lessons and so on... just too many that I couldn't get to do all these in such a short weekend.

Ok, if you want to listen, I may put up some of the Flute pieces here as samples (only the shorter pieces as they take up lesser bandwidth).

The Sunny MiZ 15: NDP CCR 3

05 Jun 2005
We had to wake up very early in the morning as we need to load the stores into the tonner. After doing so, we then had our breakfast in the cookhouse. Well, they served "Lor mai kai" for breakfast, which was quite rare for cookhouse breakfast (though they served those quite often for nightsnack). Well, at least it was much better than the previous week breakfast. After that, we then load the tonner and went to Tuas.

Over there, we had to unload the stores and set up a tentage for ourselves. As KQ fell ill early in the morning (before we got up to load tonner), Ben had to take over KQ for safety rover. Well, for that case, I had to take over Ben for videocamera. Hmm... as that was the first time I was handling that videocamera, I had to asked ZL how to use it. ZL then also told me what was Ben's job as the videocamera personnel, which was to take the vehicles turning at the end of a stretch of road. As I was not really sure what to take, I looked across at Daniel to see what he did, and follow what he did as well. Ok, that was what I did when I was taking photographs during the photo outing for CCA when I was in JC, I followed what my teacher-in-charge did, and did the same thing (that's what my senior taught me). Well, my photographic society teacher-in-charge was extremely good at photography, that's no wonder why he could be an Art Elevtive Programme (AEP) teacher.

Well, lunch was catered by outside caterer. Well, the quantity was somewhat small, and some people had to eat more than 1 share to fill their stomach (well, there were quite a lot of extra food by the way). We then take a rest before continuing with the next rehearsals.

When it came to the 2nd rehearsal, my videocamera battery died halfway while I was filming, so I had to stopped doing so. After the rehearsal, some people including me had a short break at the canteen. After that, I then asked HJ and Victor to charge he battery for me. I then decided to rewrite the 2nd rehearsal, since the tape was somewhat limited.

The 3rd rehearsal was long as the RSM was there to "teach" people how to salute properly. I had to stand under the hot sun for soooooooooo loooooooooong, my legs were tired... After the rehearsal, we decided not to film for the next rehearsal.

We managed to pack our stuffs and leave just before 9pm, as the RSM wanted to conduct 2 more rehearsals after our dinner, and 1 was for the saluting part... Well, the thing could have ended much earlier if there was only just 1 more rehearsal... wonder what the RSM could be thinking...

Anyway, we managed to reach back camp at about 9.30pm, and kept all our stores in the tonner before 10pm. Well, at least we still managed to book out earlier than the previous week. Took my father car back home. After reaching back home, I decided to sleep as I felt really tired after all the day work in Tuas...

MiZiSat 15: Triple Birthday Celebrations

04 Jun 2005
Woke up quite late as I was just too lazy to get off from the bed. Just don't know why I still felt like sleeping... Well, after that, I just surf the internet and watch some television programmes. After that, I went to buy lunch back home to eat.

Well, after eating, I continued playing my "Pokémon Colosseum" on GameCube. then, I started playing my "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door". It's an RPG game, still not really sure what is it about yet, since I only just started the game.

After that, I pack my bag to prepare to book in to camp, and then went out to meet HJ at Bedok MRT station. We had actually plan to meet with Roger as well to buy Birthday cake(s) to celebrate Ben, Andrew and JL birthdays. Well, thier birthday were not together though, but consecutively. We decided to buy one toffee cake from Prima Deli, and another larger fruit cake from Bengawan Solo (well, a lot of people will be celebrating, so we need to buy more). We also met Alex while buying the cake, and then we took HJ car to Orchard MRT station to meet up with other people.

As TG, WB and JF will be late, we then walk to Califonia Kitchen Pizza first. ZL had made a reservation for 21 people some time ago, and they specially arranged the tables and seats for 21 people there. Well, as there were too many people, we decided to order food in groups. ZL, HJ, WQ, Ben, Alex and me ordered 3 pizzas and 2 pastas for ourselves. Well, the food was simply good, except that the quantity was a bit small... Well, never mind, we still had our cakes to come. After we had our dinner, we then ask Ben, Andrew and JL to sit together in front of the cake, while we gather to celebrate their birthday. We then took a group photo outside the restaurant. Ok, the bills was more than $300 (including service charge and taxes). We had some conflicts with the cost and the money we collected, but later we then fork out a bit more money each to make up the difference.

After that, we then took a public bus together back to Choa Chu Kang bus interchange. WB, WQ, HJ and I then took a cab back to camp, while the rest go to camp by public bus. As we decided to mount the radio sets and tonner the next morning, I decided to sleep early, since we had to get up very early in the morning to prepare all those stuffs.

MiZ in Weekdays 15: The beginning of ACCT

31 May 2005
After breakfast, we had to do area cleaning as there would be an area inspection later on. After that, I had to set up the public address system with another person for the CO talk at the multi-purpose hall. Well, during the CO talk, the Co said that we would be given 4 days off for our "good" performance in ATEc Stage 2. Well, whether we would be given more offs depends on the ability of the BSO to talk to S$ about that.

After that, we went back to our bunk to prepare for our ACCT (Advance Close Combat Training) lesson, but before we could go to the SOC the "train" asked us to wait outside the bunk first for area inspection. Hmm... don't know why CSM insisted on having area inpection just before ACCT. Well, it was that Sgt LL that inspect our bunk, just to check if there was any ammunitions left inside our bunk. Well, after the area inspection, when we went to the SOC ground for ACCT lesson, we missed quite a lot of warm-up. Well, the instructor didn't really say anything, so we were still ok...

Hmm... the ACCT was really quite advanced. Well, I always could not do some of the things they taught to us correctly. Some of the training was also quite tiring as well. We were also drenched with water and mud when we had to fell to the wet ground while performing our ACCT skills. After ACCT, we had our bath and changed to a new sets of uniform before going for lunch.

After lunch, we had our briefing by BSO, regarding the next NDP CCR and so on. After that, we went back to bunk to rest.

After we had our breakfast, we rested for a while before doing some stores. Well, for the line team, we had to reel back a big bag of lines found inside a plastic bag into some RL 11 and drum 2. After reeling back all these lines, we then took a short rest before going for lunch.

After I had my lunch, I went to the e-mart to buy a woodwork ferris wheel assembly. The ferris wheel looked kind of interesting, so I decided to buy the assembly to make myself one.

After lunch, as there was not much stores for us to do, we just waited inside our bunk and rest.

At night, while others had gone for nights off, I stayed inside the bunk to make the ferris wheel. Well, some parts were a bit loose, while others need to be forced to fit in. The wheels also couldn't really turned properly due to the cutting of the wood pieces. Moreover, the two wheels were not parellel to each other, so the seats might be very loose at one side and very tight on the other side. Hmm... I think I might need to get some glue to tighten the loosen parts.

After we had our breakfast, we had to clean our area for area inspection. Well, since we had ACCT, we only had Stanley to be in-charged for the inspection for the stand-in CSM (which was RQ).

Well, for ACCT, we decided to join Bronco for some reasons. Hmm... don't know whether I could pass the ACCT grading based on how I performed during the lesson. Always kept doing the wrong techniques as it was quite difficult for me to do so.

Anyway, after ACCT, while we went back to bunk, Stanley told us that the RQ complained a lot about our bunks and toilet that there would be another inspection the next day. Oh well, looked like we had to do another area cleaning again. Well, I supposed it would not be as hectic since we did quite a lot in the morning already. After that, we rested in our bunk before going for lunch.

In the afternoon, we had to send some of the stores back to QM department, especially line stores, as they were not going to be needed by us since our ATEC was over. We had to clean some of the stores before moving and sending back to them. As usual, we had to write statement for equipments that were spoilt or faulty. After that, we sent some of the radio stores in, and then move some other radio stores into our signal store. After finishing all these, we went to have our dinner and that call it a day.

03 Jun 2005
After we had our breakfast, we had to do our area cleaning as we had did quite "badly" based on RQ standard the day before. While, for the area inspection, RQ said that our bunks were fine, better than the day before. For the toilets, he said that the windows were dirty and we need to clean them.

After that, there was nothing much for us to do for the rest of the day, so we rested in our bunks later in the morning and afternoon. Before booking out, we cleaned the toilet windows as well.

After booking out, as I wanted to go to Funan Digitalife Mall to look for Gamecube games, I decided to follow JR and HH to Boon Lay interchange and took the train to City Hall. Had my dinner at KFC/Pizza Hut/Taco Bell 3-in-1 restaurant there. After that, I went to look for and buy one GameCube game, "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door".

MiZ Speaks
Ok,I bought a game "Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door" today, heard that the game is quite fun to play. Well, they put "best seller" on the game cover, which I supposed it is a popular game. Hmm... it costs me $86.90 for that game, which is considered quite expensive for a GameCube games. I supposed it is the popularity that makes this game more expensive.

If you have read my blog or journal carefully and remembered, I said that I got caught by a traffic police for crossing the road when the light is still red. Well, I got the traffic offence letter this week, stating that I am charged for failing to obey to the signalised traffic sign, and will be fined $20. Well, I had to pay the $20 fine through the S.A.M. machine. Ok... that's how my $20 is gone, and that's equivalent to 4 meals... well, maybe I should skipped 4 meals in weekends?

Another thing, those people in the same platton as me, if you have noticed, I have started going for breakfast at 5.30am. well, if you want to know why, the reasons are that I do not really want to get to eat lousy breakfast, especially when we go late for breakfast, and also I don't really want to wait so long for some people to wake up to prepare to go for breakfast, so I decided to go myself for breakfast early in the morning. You can join me for breakfast, that is ONLY if you are able to leave the bunk to cookhouse at 5.25am. Well, I can tell you that you may have to wait for some time as they need to on the Point-of-Sales (POS) machine (that is if the BOS didn't on the machine for us).
